Black History w/ Titus Kaphar I

"My mother is a kind and honest woman. But I fear that when she speaks of my father her honesty slumbers while her kindness is free to compose all sorts of loving fictions without the cumbersome limitation of truth."

Black History W/ Titus Kaphar II

The title of this painting says it all, "A History Far Too Convoluted For Words"

Perspective

"Oh your from China, I met a Chinese guy once, his name is Lui, you know him?" Sounds up-surd but yet countless times when people find out I am from Africa (Nigeria to be exact) they pose this question about some Kenyan or Senegalese or Cameroonian that they have met. Come on people.

Hmmm.........

When the missionaries came to Africa they had the Bible and we had the land. They said, ‘Let us pray.’ We closed our eyes. When we opened them we had the Bible and they had the land.

When Death Calls

This is another picture by Nana Kofi that haunts me. Having parents that live in Nigeria, when you hear a parent is ill, the worst images come to your mind. But as my father continually reminds me, death will eventually come knocking, and you will have no choice but to answer, so gird yourself. Just don't come to soon death.

Potential

This was taken by Nana Kofi. A ginormous tree, yet it produces no shade. Illustration of Africa? Not living up to ones potential? Very haunting yet beautiful picture.

In Store News

I have a bunch of new tees that are being printed and will be available at the Uncultured Persons store in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned, but in the meantime I have been inspired to do a series of African secret societies, or as my dad says Secrea Secrea. I think they will make smashing tees. Enjoy the new painting.

Oliberté

I came across this Canadian based company that makes African shoes. The soles are manufactured in Liberia while the leather is from Ethiopia. Check them out. I already have a pair of blue suedes on the way.
