Gele Supreme

I know other African countries try (I use the word try loosely), but only Nigerians do it with such flare and panache. Only drawback is if you are sitting behind one of these women at a wedding or in church (although the church gele is usually very subdued). Ah........ain't no celebration like a niaja celebration cuz we show out.

Grandma Soccer

Twice a week, they put on their soccer shoes and play matches often while wearing skirts and aprons. Quite intriguing since they age in range from 40 to 80.

Eric Adjetey

24 yr old Eric Adjetey makes the most incredible coffins and it is interesting that the sports drinks Aquarius has decided to make a commercial about his coffin business. Quite intriguing.

Talent

African Street Jive from CKurmann on Vimeo.

There are so many talented people in Africa who if just given the opportunity would produce amazing things in the field of Art, but sadly people have to think about survival/eating first. Peep how dude makes sure he gets his money.

Wisdom

You can just tell that She has been through some things, and when She speaks it would be in your best interest to listen. Be reverent of the elders.

Memories of Jos

With all the shit that is going on in Jos, Nigeria right know seeing this picture by Malik Sadibe brought back good memories of J-town. This is how we use to get around, with my dad balancing me on his motorcycle. Not the safest mode of transporting an infant/toddler (we only got in one accident), but in Africa it just sort of makes sense. Maybe this is where I get my love of motorcycles? My dad still gets sad about getting rid of his motorcycle, but trying to balance two toddlers an infant and a not so happy wife is serious business. Ah good times.

Allah Ya Tsine

When will the violence stop? When will those who continually support and stir up this violence be brought to book? Since the 1980s this has been going on and nobody has been held responsible. Talking to my parents who live in Jos they tell me that in all the time this has been going on women and children have never been the targets until this go around. I am ashamed of my country right now and all I can say is Allah ya tsine.

Can't Nobody Tell Me Nothing. . . . .

This is how I am feeling joyous and on top of the world.
